Welcome to NSBPSS
Welcome to the Nova Scotia Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons Society, a dedicated group of healthcare professionals committed to advancing obesity care across the province. Obesity is a chronic disease with a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors, contributing to significant comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and sleep apnea. With the incidence of obesity steadily rising in Nova Scotia, our mission is to provide a comprehensive and unified approach to care.
Through collaboration, education, and advocacy, we aim to improve patient outcomes, support healthcare providers, and drive policy changes that prioritize obesity as a critical health issue. Our society brings together bariatric surgeons, endocrinologists, dietitians, psychologists, primary care physicians, and allied health professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary and evidence-based approach to obesity management.
